LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A man accused of murder in the death of his wife’s boyfriend may know his fate Friday.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys for 48-year-old George Strickland rested their cases this afternoon.

The Lowndes County Circuit Court jury will return Friday to hear any rebuttal witnesses, instructions and closing arguments.

Strickland is accused of murder in the shooting death of 36-year-old Christopher George inside Strickland’s home on Highway 50 in eastern Lowndes County in January 2011. Strickland claims he pulled a handgun and shot George when he started to pull a knife during an altercation.

If convicted, Strickland faces up to life in prison.
