UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Three people are in the Union County jail after deputies find nearly 35 pounds of cocaine.

Alicia Ramirez, 32, Samantha Luna, 20, and Manuel Galavizu, 31, are all charged with aggravated trafficking.

Their bonds have not been set.

Sheriff Jimmy Edwards says he believes only one of the suspects is in the country legally.

The Drug Enforcement Agency and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents worked with deputies on Wednesday.

Edwards says a deputy spotted the truck the trio were in and believed it did not have a license plate.

It had a paper tag that was hidden from view.

A K-9 was called in and sniffed out the drugs in some luggage in the back of the truck.

$6,000 and nearly 35 pounds of cocaine were seized.

The sheriff believes the drug was smuggled into the country from Mexico and was on its way to Atlanta.

Edwards says this is the sheriff’s department’s largest cocaine bust ever.
