Video: 858th Preparing for Deployment

CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WCBI) – A local National Guard Unit is preparing for their second deployment in six years. In a unanimous vote Tuesday the Calhoun City Chamber of Commerce agreed to assist a local group to properly sendoff soldiers leaving for Afghanistan. The Tri-Commnity Homemakers wanted to do something special for the 858th Horizontal Engineering Regiment leaving for a year long tour. August 3rd on the Calhoun City Square, festivities will be held to honor and support the more than 150 soldiers who will be leaving family and friends. The 858th did a year long tour in Iraq in 2009. This will be the units second deployment. The 858th will depart August 5th from Camp Shelby for Afghanistan.
