VIDEO: Residents Tee Up To Raise Money For Make-A-Wish Foundation

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Some residents are teeing up — taking a swing for a good cause.

Since 8:00 am Monday morning, these golfers have been playing hole after hole at the Old Waverly Golf Course.

The golf tournament will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and money raised from the event will help grant some special wishes for kids battling life-threatening illnesses.

Rod Henderson from Make-A-Wish Mississippi says it’s a great way to help kids cope.

“These children… This comes at a time where they are fighting cancer, they are fighting cystic fibrosis, they are fighting these life-threatening conditions. So on the hardest days of their lives… And so the wishes help to give them hope. It helps to reduce anxiety and depression, and the wishes give them something to look forward to,” Henderson says.

Right now, there are ten children from the Golden Triangle area in the Make-A-Wish program.
