Aberdeen Chief Warns Of Scam

ABERDEEN, MS (WCBI) – Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Randle  says a new twist on credit card scams is hitting North Mississippi.

An elderly African American couple is hitting stores in the area using credit cards that will actually run through credit card machines but when the stores try to get their cash the cards don’t actually exist. Randle says in most cases the pair are buying large amounts of cigarettes on the bogus cards. He says the scam is very similar to check scams where people deposit checks and then find out no account exists.   He says if you encounter the duo to call your local police.
