STARKVILLE, Miss. – (PRESS RELEASE) The Starkville School District Board of Trustees has announced several administrative changes for the 2013-2014 school year in an effort to maximize the strengths of SSD’s administrative team.

AMS Principal Elizabeth Mosley, a veteran administrator with almost 30 years of building-level experience, is returning to Sudduth Elementary School, where she actually began her career in the Starkville School District in 1976. Mosley also served as principal at Sudduth for more than a decade from 1998-2010.

Henderson Principal Tim Bourne is also returning to his roots in the SSD as the principal of Armstrong Middle School. Bourne began his career at AMS in 2001 as a science teacher before becoming an assistant principal at the school in 2004. Bourne has served as principal of Henderson since 2007.

Overstreet Principal Julie Kennedy, who began her career as a teacher along with Bourne at AMS, will move to Henderson. Kennedy was an assistant principal at AMS for six years before being named principal of Overstreet in 2009.

Sudduth Elementary Principal Lisa Thompson will take over as the principal of Overstreet School. Thompson, a veteran educator with 20 years of classroom experience, taught at AMS and Sudduth. Thompson was also a reading facilitator and assistant principal at Sudduth before becoming principal of the school in 2010.

The school board announced the changes during its July board meeting.

“SSD’s greatest resource is its people,” said Supt. Lewis Holloway.

“Our administrators work very hard, and each of them possesses a unique set of strengths that make them the ideal choice for these positions. We are confident that these administrative changes will only lead to greater success in our schools,” adds Holloway.

The principals will assume their new duties and responsibilities at their respective schools as soon as possible in preparation for the new school year.
