COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Middle school students from the Golden Triangle got the chance to learn leadership skills at MUW on Saturday.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc sponsored the event to encourage youth to reach for academic excellence and make good decisions. The “Emerging Young Leaders Youth Summit” began with a workshop on college planning and the STEM program. Other topics included on healthy eating, character building and peer pressure.

“One of our  most important topics today is cyberbullying. How to recognize the signs, things that they can doto help prevent it and also some of the consequences of cyberbullying,” says Zimiko Turner, Chairperson for the program.

The students also received door prizes and gift bags during the Summit.
