ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A couple has a close call after the plane they just purchased has engine failure.

Pisgah Volunteer Fire Chief Gary Yancey says, the call came in around 4:30 Friday afternoon of a plane crash in a bean field off County Road 518 behind a home at the 800 block of Hinkle road.

Officials say the Cessna 150 was traveling at 4,000 feet when the engine began to fail and the pilot had to land the plane.

The couple had just purchased the plane in Georgia and were on their way to Memphis when the engine failure took place.

Several volunteer fire departments assisted in the call.

Both the pilot and passenger exited the plane without injury.
