ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — Angels were smiling down on children in Aberdeen this afternoon.

Toys, presents and clothes were handed out to children whose Christmas wishes were on the Angel Tree hung each year in Aberdeen City Hall. It’s an annual show of giving by city employees and residents that is about more than just giving gifts.

“We are just blessing more children in the city of Aberdeen today with giving them a Christmas they might not have been able to have this year,” said Sara Nerren, administrative assistant to Mayor Cecil Belle and one of the Angel Tree organizers.

“With out this help, extra help with my fixed income, I would not have been able to buy my children what they really want for Christmas,” added Valerine Williams, one of the recipients of Angel Tree gifts.

More than 60 children benefited from this year’s Angel Tree.
