Monroe County Man Charged With Wife's Murder
MONROE COUNTY, Miss. - It's been nearly two years since 68 year old Joyce Parvin died in her home, in the quiet area of Deer Road.
Now real-life CSI-style technology has led to an arrest.
Her 69-year-old husband David, is charged with her murder. According to Monroe County authorities, Parvin was arraigned in the case Wednesday. He is free on $75,000 bond.
Mrs. Parvin was discovered dead, sitting at her computer, after deputies were sent to the house by her husband's 911 call, on the morning of Oct. 15, 2007.
At the time, Coroner Alan Gurley told us the woman likely had died from a shotgun blast.
The death first was looked at as accidental, but Deputy Curtis Knight said, at the time, that if evidence showed otherwise, the investigation would proceed in another direction.
That direction led to David Parvin's arrest, according to Sheriff Andy Hood.
At the time, Parvin told authorities he was holding the gun at his side at waist level when the gun went off. But forensics tests and computer models by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation showed the gun was being held at Parvin's shoulder from a few feet behind his wife, Hood said.
Those projections were based on Parvin's height, the height of his wife where she was sitting and the chair and the angle of the bullets, he added.
