Cheesy Hush Puppies
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheese
2 small onions chopped fine or grated
1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 cups self rising corn meal
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
dash of red pepper
dash of garlic powder
Mix all ingredients. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. Spoon into grease, 1 teaspoon at a time. As the hush puppies rise to the top, turn them over, and fry to desired color.
