AMORY, Miss. - They were resting Friday afternoon (Oct. 9), but on Saturday (Oct. 10) members of the Amory Bicycle Club will be well into their 150 mile Multiple Sclerosis bike tour.
This will be the group's fourth time to join hundreds of other cyclist from across the state for the two day event.
The ride is held in order to raise funds for, and awareness of, MS research and support groups.
The Amory team has set a goal to raise $7,250.00. So far it's at a little over $3,000.
While all of the work isn't easy and 150 miles is a long way, members of the Amory team say the cause makes it worthwhile.
"I had a best friend when I was growing up who's mother died of Multiple Sclerosis, so this kind of ended up being the perfect outlet," Cyclist Chris Seay explains. "My husband is a nursing home administrator so he has MS patients that he has to care for, so it's part of both of our lives."
