Louisville -- Offense wins games. Defense wins championships. But what about the lineman working hard in the trenches?
"I know there's not a lot of glory but if you ask any coach, he'll tell you the reason why he's good is because he has a good offensive line," says Louisville senior center Tate Rogers.
Rogers has been a crucial cog to the Wildcats last two state championships, but spending his time in the trenches, he may not get all the credit he deserves.
And that's fine by him.
"I really don't want the glory because I really don't want people watching me every play. If you're a good team player it don't matter if you get glory or not," according to Rogers.
He makes up just one part of a senior laden line, and when there's checks to be made on the play, Coach Peterson looks to #50.
"There's times when I'll call a pass protection and he'll say, 'coach we need to do it a different way'," says Coach Brad Peterson. "I'll tell him to do what he needs to do to make that happen."
On the field this year, Rogers will be going for his third straight state title with the Wildcats. Off the field he's in the running for class Valedictorian.
Those are two accomplishments that really exemplify his work ethic.
"It's what I've always done. I've never thought of doing anything differnt other than my school work. I'm really competitive, and I want to be the best in everything."
