Viewers in areas of Starkville, Eupora, and even Macon experienced spotty rain Sunday.
But according to what Lowndes County Fire Coordinator Sammy Fondren is telling us, we still have very volatile surface conditions.
The drought monitor indicates we are abnormally dry.
At the present time there is no official burn ban in place.
"With that being said, we don't currently see a burn ban for this area as of yet. We've had very few grass fires to this point. Now, the weather report is calling for I think for some rain on the holiday. The Fourth of July and that will help," said Fondren.
Monroe County and Lee Counties are under a burn ban.
Also burn bans are in place further north beyond Pontotoc, and three areas south around the Louisiana line.
