COLUMBUS, Miss (WCBI Sports) -- The mid-way point in the 2012 MLB season is finally upon us, which means the All-Stars of 2012 are getting ready to head down to Kansas City to take part in this year's All-Star game.
While the American League roster is riddled full of current Yankees and Rangers, the National League will field a team slightly more diverse. One team that is sending a hand-full of players just down the road to Kansas City is the Cardinals. This year the Cards have two NL starters as outfielder (and rumored Homerun Derby participant) Carlos Beltran, and resurgent shortstop Rafael Furcal will get the nod at short. Other Cardinals named to the All-Star game is pitcher Lance Lynn, and catcher Yadier Molina.
The Braves are also sending two players to Kauffman Stadium with second baseman Dan Uggla and closer Craig Kimbrel. The Braves also have two players in the running for the final All-Star vote as Michael Bourn and an aging Chipper Jones have been named candidates.
And as for the lowly Cubs, their representative named to the All-Star game is standout Bryan LaHair who has played a spectacular first half of the season despite the continuing woes in Chi-town.
