PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. - Local authorities, members of the National Transportation Safety Board
(NTSB), and investigators from the FAA remained on the scene Monday (7-9), continuing to
recover debris and personal items from a small plane that crashed Sunday
afternoon at approximately 2 p.m.
Prentiss County Medical Examiner Greg Sparks confirmed local authorities
are still trying to recover all the remains of the three passengers who were
aboard the small engine plane.
The three passengers were listed as:
the pilot: Dr. James Joseph Bartley, Jr, 55, of Columbus, Ga; his wife
Terry Hammond Bartley, 55, and their daughter Caroline Victoria Bartley, 20, all
of the same address.
The family was traveling from Andrews, North Carolina, to Oxford,
Mississippi.
Caroline Victoria Bartley was a student at the University of Mississippi in
Oxford, Mississippi.
There were thunderstorms in the area when the plane crashed just east of
County Road 4111 in Prentiss County, Mississippi, near the New Site
Community.
The aircraft was a small engine Piper 300.
