A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today symbolizing Southern Motion Inc.'s start of production at its new facility in Prentiss County.

In December, a project was announced that outlined the Pontotoc, Mississippi based, motion furniture manufacturer's plans to expand its operations into Prentiss County.

Southern Motion chose to locate the new facility in the City of Baldwyn, utilizing a vacant industrial building. Through an incentive package crafted by Prentiss County, City of Baldwyn, Appalachian Region Commission, & the Mississippi Development Authority, totaling over $400,000, Southern Motion agreed to 150 jobs over the next three years. Company representatives remain confident that they should exceed that employment level.

Production at Southern Motion's Baldwyn facility actually began in mid-March and the company employs over 60 people at this location and over 1,000 people in the state.
