YALOBUSHA COUNTY, Miss. - State Troopers continue to investigate an accident on I-55 near mm 230 in Yalobusha County, which sent 11 people to hospital including 8 inmates.
 The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene at approximately 3:15 pm.
 Upon arriving it appeared a private prison transport van was traveling south bound on I-55 when apparently Angela Powell, 45, of Charleston, who was driving a 2008 Ford Fusion, collided into the rear of the Ford E350 transport van.
 The van was driven by Brenda Jackson, 46, of Winfield, LA.

 

All 8 inmates, 2 guards, and Jackson were all transported by ambulance to a local hospital in Batesville with non life threating injuries.

 

The inmates were being transported by a private company.

 

Powell received minor injuries in the crash.
She was not transported to the hospital.

 

The accident is still under investigation.
