COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -- After two years of helping her alma mater get back on its feet after a turbulent five years, Allegra Brigham has left Mississippi University for Women.

Brigham retired June 30 after serving five months as interim vice president of university relations and advancement.

She took that newly created post in February after serving 18 months as interim president while the state college board searched for a permanent president. Dr. Jim Borsig took over as president in January.

While at the 'W,' Brigham used her passion for the university where she earned her degree to rebuild alumni and community relations.

The university has not yet advertised the vacancy.
