Tompkins Named New City Prosecutor

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -- Columbus names a new city prosecutor tonight.
The City County Tuesday night unanimously appointed attorney Shane Tompkins to the position that handles criminal cases in city court.
He was one of five people who applied and is a member of the Studdard Law Firm in downtown Columbus.
He replaces Tim Hudson who retired from the position. Tompkins ran unsuccessfully for county prosecutor -- an elected position -- last year.
