COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -- The former accountant for the MUW Foundation has been arrested on embezzlement charges.
Jeannie Godbey, 46, of Starkville, turned herself in to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department this afternoon on embezzlement charges. She has been released on $5,000 bond and waived an initial appearance in Justice Court. Her next court appearance is scheduled Nov. 13 in Lowndes County Circuit Court.
She had been sought since last week.
Godbey was dismissed with cause from the Foundation this spring after the possible theft was discovered by Foundation officials and turned over to other agencies for investigation. Godbey had worked for MUW for about three years.
Sources tell WCBI as much as $30,000 was reported missing from the Foundation.
