AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) -- The Amory Panthers enjoyed one of their best seasons in recent memory last year. Mostly due in part to their record-breaking offense.

That may change this year, with the graduation of prolific passer Forest Williams. A new quarterback will take over, and a new offense will be unleashed.

"We did a lot of things last year that Forest could do," head coach Trent Hammond said. "We have two different kids vying for the starting quarterback spot. Each one brings a different skill set.

"We can't expect any of them to be Forest Williams. They have to be themselves and do the things to help us win."

One big advantage the Panthers do return in 2012 is their depth and talent at wide receiver.

Along with senior Dario Robinson, who returns after scoring 21 TD's and tallying over 2,100 yards receiving, is four other top receivers that helped take Amory to heights never seen in Mississippi high school football.

"Our strength relies in our receiving core," said Coach Hammond. "We return all five receivers. We have guys that understand how to make plays and how to make them in big ball games."

They may not have their record-shattering quarterback returning, but the 1-4A Division Champions return a confidence that many would love to have heading into the 2012 season.
