COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -- Mississippi University for Women is reaching out to a group that could direct hundreds of students toward the historic Columbus campus.

Most of the presidents of the state's 15 community colleges and their staffs were at MUW today to meet Dr. Jim Borsig, MUW's president, and learn more about the university's online and on-campus programs for traditional and non-traditional students.

The state's two-year schools graduate hundreds of students a year, many with associates degrees in nursing and business. That makes MUW a good fit to continue their college careers.

"We have particularly put a lot of emphasis in the last year or so on some online programs that help serve community college students, particularly those who might be place-bound and have families and jobs back across the state. This is really an update on a continuing discussion," Borsig said of today's presentations.

The visitors also got a tour of the historic campus.
