CORINTH, Miss (WCBI) -- A long-time staple in the Corinth community has died. Velma Griffin Long passed away Tuesday (8-8) at her home at the age of 87. The Pontotoc County native taught school at both Glendale and Corinth High Schools before working as a bookkeeper at Long Wholesale Distributors and becoming a realtor.

Her late husband, Erst Long, Jr., became active in the family business in the 1940's expanding Long Distributors in Ripley to both Corinth and Meridian.

Long's funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at noon at First Presbyterian Church in Corinth.
