Posted by Andrew Harrison | August 08, 2012 / 03:33pm | Local News, Education
Columbus, MS, August 8, 2012--The Columbus Arts Council is seeking design talent to redesign its logo for this non-profit organization. The winning logo will become the official logo for the Columbus Arts Council starting in the year 2013 and will be used on all branding material. The contest is open to anyone who would like to submit a design.

Submission Guidelines:
1. All logo designs must be computer generated, but the final product must be saved as a jpeg and of high resolution (at least 300dpi).
2. For quality reproduction purposes the logo must be easy to use, handle, resize, and manipulate for all reproduction purposes. It should be visually appealing on both small and large scales and should be able to be used as black and white if needed.
3. Artwork must be no smaller than 2" x 2" and no larger than 4.5wide x 2.5 high.
4. Entries may be emailed in .jpg format to columbus.ms.arts@gmail.com with subject line CAC logo contest entry or mailed on paper to PO Box 869, Columbus, MS 39703 or dropped off at the Rosenzweig Arts Center located at 501 Main Street, downtown Columbus.
5. All entries must be received by Thursday, October 31, 2012.
6. Decisions will be announced by November 15th.
7. Artwork submitted on paper cannot be returned. Be sure to keep a copy for your records. If given by paper, please save the original digital file to be ready to turn over to the CAC.
8. All artwork submitted must include your name, address, phone, and email printed clearly on the back or within the email submitted.
9. Please include a brief description or artist statement to present to the design selection committee to help portray the vision of your design. (Not necessary, but if asked as top 3 will help in "pitch")
10. One or more submissions per person are acceptable.

The logo design selection committee comprised of both artists and board members will review and evaluate the logo designs. The top three designs will be selected to go through an interview process to discuss the designs and "pitch" their idea behind their logo to the committee. There may be a pubic exhibit of all submitted entries at the Rosenzweig Arts Center Gallery.

The winning design will become the official logo for The Columbus Arts Council starting 2013 and artist will receive credit through press release and the satisfaction of knowing their logo will live on to represent the Columbus Arts Council for years to come. The artist will also receive recognition in the Commercial Dispatch with a picture of them with the winning logo as well as their story on the Columbus Arts Council website.

"The current branding frustration is that we are trying to find a logo that will distinguish us as being the Columbus Arts Council located at the Rosenzweig Arts Center. Some people know us as the Columbus Arts Council while others only know us as the Rosenzweig Arts Center or the RAC, so we would like to have a logo that incorporates the two and eliminates confusion. The Columbus Arts Council is a non-profit organization that strives to present, promote and support arts and arts education."

All entries must be received by Thursday, October 31, 2012. Decisions will be announced by November 15th. If you would like further information, please contact the Columbus Arts Council by calling 328-ARTS (2787), columbus.ms.arts@gmail.com, visiting columbus-arts.org or on Facebook at Columbus Arts Council.
