EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) - It's been vacant for years and now the Town of Eupora is finally doing something about it.

On May 17th during a Special Meeting Eupora Mayor Tommy Lott recommended that the Board of Alderman vote on tearing the old Garan Building down.

June 4th the Board approved the motion and awarded the contract to Mississippi Demolition and Recycling at a cost of just over $37,000.

The old Garan building sits on Highway 9 and could be seen as motorists come into town. Many feel the old building is an eye sore for the community and are glad to see something done.

The exact time line on the clearing is unknown.
