TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) - Elvis "fan days" have wrapped up in Tupelo, but this year's event had a unique attraction. 

Back when Elvis appeared in Tupelo for his homecoming concert in 1956, Hollywood actor Nick Adams was at his side. 

Adams later wrote a book about his friendship with Elvis, but the manuscript was undiscovered until a few years ago when his daughter found it in storage. 

Allyson Adams has now  had the book published and it is called "The Rebel, The King"  She says the book provides valuable insight into the early days of Elvis' fame.

"The innocence, the fun of them just wanting to go to the fair and throw some balls at the ducks or win a teddy bear or ride the motorcycle around or go meet all of his friends, Elvis never forgot where he came from and he wanted to introduce and say hello to everybody, the homecoming was really special for him," Adams said.
