Oktibbeha County (WCBI) - Authorities are still on the scene of a fatal shooting in Oktibbeha County.

The Sheriff's Department got a call late Monday afternoon about a man walking down Cannon Road with a knife in his hand. According to Chief Deputy Chadd Garnett, when two deputies approached the suspect, he became violent and attacked them. One deputy suffered multiple stab wounds to his arm. The other deputy shot and killed the suspect.

A large portion of Cannon Road was shut down for several hours as the scene was secured. No official word yet on the identity of the shooting victim or either deputy. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation.
