OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) - The Mississippi bureau of investigation is looking into a fatal shooting in Oktibbeha County. According to coroner Michael Hunt, 33-year-old Damion Street was killed around 6:00 Monday (8-20) evening. According to deputies, they received a call about Street walking down Cannon Road with a knife in his hand. When they approached him, he reportedly became violent and attacked them, causing multiple stab wounds to one deputy's arm. Street was tased and pepper sprayed, but it did not stop him, leading to the other deputy shooting and killing him.
Officials say Street has a history of mental problems and was being treated by Community Counseling Services.
No official word yet on the identity of either deputy, but the man stabbed in the shoulder is out of surgery at Oktibbeha County Hospital.
