MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -- A long-time employee of the Monroe County Highway Department has been arrested on drug and other charges.

C.L. Morris, 54, was charged with manufacturing marijuana and theft after Sheriff's deputies and narcotics agents found four full-grown marijuana plants at his Aberdeen home. Gasoline allegedly stolen from the highway department also was recovered, according to Sheriff Cecil Cantrell.

"He is charged manufacturing marijuana, growing marijuana. We also seized $1,000 in money, also marijuana seed, along with many, many guns and bows," Cantrell said.

Morris has worked for the county for almost 35 years. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Justice Court.
