TUPELO, Miss.  (WCBI) — A telecommunications company makes a donation to a fund that will help victims of the April tornado in Lee and Itawamba Counties.

AT&T donated $10,000 to the United Way Thursday afternoon at Tupelo City Hall. The money will go to the tornado relief fund, which will help those still needing assistance.

Officials say there are still many families in need of help, more than 3 months after the tornado hit. A community recovery team has just been set up to prioritize the claims.

“We’ve got case managers still working with families so this will go a long way to helping families. It takes a lot of times to rebuild homes and not only here in Tupelo and Lee, but we’re also working in Itawamba County as well,” Melinda Tidwell, Executive Director of the United Way.

The CREATE Foundation is helping collect and disburse funds through an all volunteer committee formed earlier this summer.
