Biggersville senior guard Daniel Simmons was named to the Clarion-Ledger’s boys basketball Dandy Dozen today. Simmons joins eleven other players on the list of the best boys basketball players in the state of Mississippi.

Simmons and the Lions are the reigning class 1A State Champions from this past season after downing Coldwater 62-53 in the state title game. In that game, Simmons scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds and was named the game’s MVP.

He currently is being recruited by multiple schools and Middle Tennessee State has offered him a scholarship. He averaged over 22 points and seven rebounds a game last year while also dishing out over 4 assists per game.

The Lions are the favorite to win the class 1A State Championship again this season. Head coach Cliff Little returns a talented and experienced team that finished 28-8 last season and won the school’s first state title since 1996.

Biggersville will begin play this season in the Nettleton Classic on November 9th against 3A power Aberdeen.
