UNDATED, Ala. (WCBI)-Alabama beer drinkers who like to make their own are encouraging Governor Robert Bentley to sign a bill legalizing home brewing. The bill allows people 21 and older to brew up to 15 gallons of beer or wine every three months for personal consumption but not for sale. That’s less than most states allow but the lower amount was needed to get the measure through the Legislature. Alabama and Mississippi were the last two states to ban home brewing but Mississippi approved it in March and it becomes legal July 1st. If Bentley signs Alabama’s bill, home brewing would become legal immediately for the estimated 5 thousand home brewers in the state.
