STARKVILLE, Miss.-(WCBI)The newest addition to the fleet of fire trucks in Starkville is dripping with Bulldog Spirit.

The ladder truck rolled out Wednesday, but the traditional red coat of paint has been replaced with maroon.

The Starkville Fire Department applied for a federal grant to help pay the nearly $800,000 price tag.The city also pitched in 10%.

Fire Chief Rodger Mann says its important to keep their equipment in up to date.

“We are replacing a 75 foot ladder truck, which helps the city maintain their class four rating and puts us in a better position to start looking at acquiring a class three rating,” says Mann.

Remember, a lower fire rating means lower insurance rates for residents.
