This time of year not only brings holiday cheer, it also brings hundreds of seasonal workers to Mississippi stores.

“We always look for cheery employees to go ahead and work both on the floor, servicing customers, as well in our stock room to help put out all the freight that we get.”

Laura Diemer got her start as a seasonal worker.

“It was pretty fast. It was almost a whirlwind of getting hired and doing all the training because it was pretty close to the holiday season already.”

JC Penney is bringing in 50 seasonal employees to the Golden Triangle area. Being a holiday worker could turn into a permanent job opportunity.

“Always if we have great employees that come and work with us seasonally, we make sure to go ahead and get them some room to keep them on.”

Hiring seasonal workers benefits the state, boosting employment rates, and provides better service to customers which is most important for the Shoe Department Store.

“Additional help for our sales and also to protect the assets of the company, but it’s mostly overall thing is for excellent customer service at this time of the year because it requires so much more.”

The holiday help is being hired now and temporary employees will work until the beginning of the year.
