Oswalt

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — A Clay County man who spent six months on the run last year before being caught in Louisiana is sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Tommy Oswalt, 43, pleaded guilty in January 2011 to grand larceny and fleeing a police officer. But before he could be sentenced, Oswalt left the area.

He was caught in Baton Rouge in July of last year. Prosecutors say he was accused of several crimes there. And, he has previous burglary and forgery convictions in Monroe and Clay counties.

Judge Jim Kitchens ordered Oswalt to serve 10 years for larceny and five years for fleeing. The sentences will run consecutively and as a habitual offender, he won’t be eligible for parole.
