Video: Clean Up Continues After EMCC Mayhew Campus Fire

MAYHEW, Miss. (WCBI) – Clean up continues today after fire heavily damages an office building at EMCC’s Mayhew campus.

Crews were at the Humanities building today trying to remove smoke damage.

EMCC says the fire started in an electrical outlet in an administrative office.

Insurers are on site investigating as well.

Once that is complete, the college will begin the remodeling process.

As for students, they must take their final exams this week; EMCC Vice President of Adminisrtation Paul Miller says exams will just take place in another location.

“The final exams that were going to be in this building have been placed in other classrooms, other meeting rooms and just other places that were available that we could get aside for the purposes of the final exams,” says Miller.

Exams are Tuesday through Thursday this week.

Everything should be back to normal when students return to campus after Christmas break.
