Chemistry Workshop for Teachers

Location: Columbus
The Mississippi University for Women Science and Enrichment Program is offering a chemistry workshop featuring Dr. Jiben Roy of MUW, along with a keynot speaker today. This workshop will be held at the Plymouth Bluff Center and is FREE of charge. This program is sponsored by the MUW Department of Science and Mathematics. The program is made possible through congressional grant funding. CEUs and stipends are available to teachers planning to attend the workshops. Holiday Farmers Market

Location: Columbus
Just in time for Thanksgiving! Make plans to attend the Holiday Market for a showcase of the best local arts & crafts, like wreaths, birdhouses, cookbooks, and more; local homegrown produce and plants; homemade baked goods, like pies; live music but Mike & Shelia; and children's activities form 7-10am. Today's children's activity feature is Holiday Cornucopia Making. Girl Scout Troop #118 will be offering FREE gift wrapping of your purchases. There will also be hot coffee, hot chocolate and cider by Kudoz. There are nearly 50 vendors signed up to participate. There will be fun for the whole family and all the friends! The Columbus Farmers Market is located at 2nd Avenue and 2nd Street North.


 

Traditional Music by the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association

Location: Tupelo
A special program of dulcimer music will be provided by the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association from 10am-1pm today at the Parkway Visitor Center located at milepost 266 near Tupelo, MS. This association teaches dulcimer history, tradition, craftsmanship and music by sharing its knowledge and talents. The Appalachian mountain dulcimer is the first instrument developed in the United States. Dating back to the early 1800s the dulcimer is an instrument whose very name means "sweet sound". The National Park Service and the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association invite everyone to listen to the soft sweet sounds of the dulcimer and learn of its extensive history. This program is FREE! Southern Gospel Artist "The Brady's" / Beaverton, AL
Southern gospel recording artist "The Brady's" of Dothan, AL, will be in concert at Beaverton Free Will Baptist Church in Beaverton, AL, today at 7pm. The church is located on County Rd 49 approximately 1/4 mile south of Highway 278 in Beaverton. Everyone has a special invitation to attend an evening of southern gospel music with an energetic group that is igniting fires of enthusiasm all across the country! "The Brady's" have been nominated as "Horizon Group of the Year" in southern gospel music and for a "Dove Award" as writer's of a former song of the year "Here I Am".
