CORINTH, Miss. (AP) – An Alcorn County grand jury has cleared a Corinth police office in a shooting.

The Daily Corinthian reports that the grand jury ruled Tuesday that Officer Bradley Bishop was fully justified in his actions in the wounding of 28-year-old Christopher Lee Burrell, who was shot after pointing a gun at the officer on Jan. 9.

Police Chief David Lancaster says the officer who went to Burrell’s home to arrest him in a home invasion case. The officer has been on paid administrative leave since the shooting.

Burrell was taken to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. Lancaster says charges are expected to filed when Burrell is discharged.
