Video: Simmons Assault Case Continued In Macon

MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – Macon police tell WCBI the case against Mississippi State football signee Jeffery Simmons has been continued.

Simmons is charged with simple assault and disturbing the peace.

Video of Simmons punching a woman multiple times surfaced back in March.

Simmons posted an apology the next day on Facebook.

A May hearing in Macon municipal court was also continued after a dispute over a restitution payment.

It’s unclear why the hearing was continued Tuesday.

Simmons enrolled, under certain conditions, at MSU earlier this month.

The conditions included an evaluation by student counseling services.

He will also be monitored closely. Simmons must also sit out the first game of MSU’s 2016 football season.
