Special Election Needed to Replace Oktibbeha Co Prosecutor

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A special election will be held to replace long-time Oktibbeha County prosecutor Roy Carpenter Jr., who is retiring June 30th.

Orlando Trainer, Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors President, says that he expects a special election to be called in November. The board passed a resolution this week to alert the county election commission but no date was decided. Carpenter also served as the appointed prosecutor in the city of Starkville. The Starkville Board of Aldermen approved advertising for the part-time position. Carpenter began serving as county prosecutor in 1983 and city attorney in 1986.
