Video: Starkville Leaders Name New Chief

STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) The city of Starkville has a new police chief.In a 6-1 vote, Starkville Alderman appointed Captain Frank Nichols to take the post.

Nichols has been with the Starkville Police Department since 1992. His salary will be $73,500 and the probationary period will be six months. He will work with city leaders, oversee the department’s daily operations, and appoint the next assistant chief.

It was standing room only as the three finalists faced the interview process.

Former Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Deputy Director Bobby Grimes and Columbus Police Captain Fred Shelton were the other two candidates.

The post opened when Former Chief David Lindley retired on December 31, 2013. John Outlaw has been serving in the interim.
