COLUMBUS, Miss. – It’s the first year for the Major Eric Roberts, his wife Nancy, and three children to serve the Columbus area through the Salvation Army Angel Tree ministry.

“It’s a calling my husband and I are both ordained minsters. As a young person, my mother went to the Salvation Army. At the age of 16, I started going to character building programs and got involved in the church. Then, through a youth conference, the Lord called me to the ministry,” says Nancy Roberts.

“We weren’t married before. As a matter of fact, we served separately in our own Salvation Army appointments before we got married,” adds Roberts.

“We try to teach our kids the children the responsibility of that (helping) They each take a child and adopt and go shop to let them know the importance of giving back.”

“You see the parents that are appreciative that their kids have something for Christmas that they wouldn’t have otherwise. We want everyone to be blessed and to wake up Christmas morning with something under the tree,” concludes the matriarch of this family who has made it their mission to help those in need.
