STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Deputies are looking into a possible shooting early Saturday morning, near the Mississippi State University campus.

Students told WCBI the university sent out a maroon alert shortly before 1 a.m., that there was a shooting off-campus at a nearby gas station.

But, Oktibbeha County sheriff’s deputies say so far they have no proof of an actual shooting.

So far investigators say they haven’t found any shell casings, and have no reports of anyone being shot.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oktibbeha County sheriff’s department.
