Discrimination Suit Filed Against MSU Professors

STARKVILLE (WCBI) – A former Mississippi State University employee is suing the school and four faculty and staff members for racial and sexual harassment.

Elois Smith says while she was working as a family consumer science agent she suffered repeated racial slurs and sexual comments directed at her. Smith filed a discrimination complaint with the school and after two weeks finally received a response. She claims she was placed on administrative leave for two months in 2016 because a County Extension sponsor claimed she was unprofessional towards them but when she contacted the person who supposedly filed the claim, that person denied saying anything to the university about her job performance. Smith says she was also offered a raise in pay if she would drop any complaints of sexual harassment. She was fired from her job in March 2016 for unprofessional behavior.
