MSU Names New Chief Academic Officer

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi State University has a new provost and executive vice president.

Dr. Mark Keenum announced Thursday that Judy Bonner, a long-JUDY BONNERtime senior administrator and former president at the University of Alabama, will take up those mantles at MSU.

Bonner’s appointment as Mississippi State’s chief academic officer is pending formal approval by the Board of Trustees and State Institutions of Higher Learning.

Bonner is expected to assume her new role on July 1st.

Bonner will succeed Jerome A. “Jerry” Gilbert as provost.

Gilbert was recently named president of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.
