COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Title Nine has opened a field of dreams for women in athletics, either on the court or the softball diamond. Women now participate in major sports, while competing for championships in high school and college. Dr. Katharine Kittredge spoke at Mississippi University for Women about what women can gain and lose from sport. Kittredge, a women’s studies professor and ice hockey player, says she has learned a lot from participating when she told she couldn’t:

“I’m spending my time with a bunch of guys who are walking around, you know, talking like guys do when they are amongst themselves, and I’ve learned a lot. I think when we cross those boundaries there is some magical things that can really happen.”

Kittredge is one of this year’s Gordy Honors College Forum Series speakers.

Kittredge will be featured Friday on Mid Morning With Aundrea.
