High School Football Tour: Okolona

OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – The Okolona High School football team has made the playoffs the past four seasons. Last year, the Chieftains lost in the first round to West Bolivar. A new head coach this season and another chance for Okolona to make some noise in 2A.

Head Coach Calvin Aldridge leaving after last season. He’s now the coach at Tishomingo County. New head man Jack Clark will have the task of improving up last season’s losing record.

The Chieftains were 4-8, 2-3 inside Region 1 in 2A. Okolona does have some history of winning. Three years ago, the team won a division championship in 1A. Though Okolona hadn’t won a championship before that since 1998.

This will be the school’s third year now in 2A, coming up from 1A. Jacolbi Heard and Dequin Babbitt will be two of the big names to look out for.
