CRAWFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — Much like their cross-county rivals, the Titans are starting anew in 2013.

East Oktibbeha welcomes in John Davis as their new head coach. Davis comes to Crawford after being an assistant at Grenada and West Point. He feels he’s ready for the challenge and excited about his team for this year.

“We’ve got a great group of kids here at East Oktibbeha,” coach Davis said. “They work incredibly hard and have a great work ethic. They’re excited about having a new coach that will change things up a bit.”

Among that group returning includes seniors Justin Williams and Clayton Carr. Williams started at quarterback last season for the Titans. Coach Davis says they plan on moving Williams to running back this season. Carr remains a staple in the trenches.

Even with the talent returning, the Titans are still awaiting word from the MHSAA if they will have games outside of their division and a possible run to the postseason. Coach Davis says it’s not necessarily a bad thing being on probation and where they are right now.

“We have to show everybody that we do belong,” Davis said. “Our competition ought to be glad that we’re not in the playoffs as of right now.”
