PHEBA, Miss. (WCBI) — After spending the last two years as an independent, Hebron Christian takes a step up into MAIS play.

The Eagles had a strong season in 2012, finishing (8-2) and they expect to be stout once again this season.

“Our expectations are to win enough games to make the playoffs,” head coach David Foster said.  “We’re in a good district, we play the other side of the north. My expectations are to pick up where we left off last season.

“I want the guys to put forth a lot of effort during the games. We have a good number of guys. and we have plenty of subs that can play. It’ll be better this year on that part so I’m not killing guys going both ways.”

The Eagles lose three key players off of their impressive offense from last season in running backs Taylor Coggins and Austin Foster plus quarterback Will Corbin Rogers.

With those losses though, HCS brings back an experienced offensive line and speed and quickness in Starkville move-in Justin Gordon.

“Our strength will be our offensive line,” coach Foster said. “We have them back from last year. All of them have played and started some games last year.”

The Eagles will begin 2013 at home against Victory Christian before playing their first game in MAIS 8-man on August 30th at Humphreys Academy.
